Training
ISO 26262: Introduction & Awareness
A shared functional safety vocabulary for engineers, managers and suppliers, from HARA to safety case.
- Duration
- 2–3 days
- Format
- On-site · modular · hands-on workshops on real cases
This introduction and awareness training gives teams a common understanding of ISO 26262: lifecycle, ASIL, safety concepts and expected evidence. It does not lead to a certification. Content is adapted to the participants’ programs, and workshops use realistic cases such as a HARA on a chassis or powertrain function.
Program
01
Fundamentals
- Scope, parts 1 to 12 and key definitions
- Safety lifecycle and safety management
- Item, element, fault, error, failure
- Safety plan, roles and DIA with suppliers
02
Concept phase
- Item definition and operational situations
- HARA: severity, exposure, controllability
- ASIL determination and safety goals
- Workshop: HARA on a realistic chassis function
03
Safety concepts & ASIL decomposition
- Functional safety concept: safe states, FTTI, warning and degradation
- Technical safety concept and allocation to hardware and software
- ASIL decomposition and independence requirements
- Safety mechanisms: monitoring, plausibility checks, redundancy
04

- Software: design principles, MISRA C coding rules, verification
- Safety analyses: FMEA, FTA, DFA
- Verification and validation of safety requirements
05
Supporting processes & confirmation measures
- Configuration management, change management and documentation
- Tool confidence level (TCL) and software tool qualification
- Confirmation reviews, functional safety audit and assessment
- Safety case structure; interfaces with SOTIF and cybersecurity
